"Mayhem Is Coming"

Well I'll tell you what I think, I think the only real reason to watch commercial TV these days is for the commercials. That's what I think.
Around ten years ago, very shortly after the 9/11 tragedy I gave up watching television completely. At the time I was living about forty minutes outside of New York City, and watching the daily reports of the attack, and knowing people we lost, just became too depressing to have my cathode ray chamber filled with such constant misery. I canceled my cable subscription, invested in Netflix, and began collecting a fairly extensive DvD collection.
Which brings us to present day. I still don't have cable, or commercial TV, and Netflix is long gone now. I have begun following several television series (thank goodness for Hulu and "other" sites), and I find that sometimes what I miss most are the commercials. In some cases, like last years Superbowl, the commercials are the best part of the show.
This brings me to the purpose of this post. Without question one of my all time favorite commercial series is the Allstate's "Mayhem" campaign. The dry, humorless manner in which the spokesman Dean Winter describes the horrible events that can occur if you don't have this particular brand of insurance literally leave me in stitches. I cannot get enough of them.
Even though I don't insure either my secret lair or my mode of transportation with Allstate, I can't wait for their next vision of mayhem to arrive. If you aren't familiar with the commercials, here is their most recent one:
Hilarious! Without question my all time favorite version of Mayhem is this one:
"I'll watch you sleep." If that doesn't creep out your funny bone just a little, best check your pulse because you might already be dead. Heres to hoping Allstate keeps the mayhem coming, and we can find new and different ways to laugh at life's little tragedies.
Now you're on your own.
